Rubber-Tracked Utility Vehicle Debuts
The Scout SC-50 utility vehicle is rubber tracked. The unit's undercarriage features patented Posi-Track technology. The suspension, 10 rubber wheels that disperse weight across a 15-in.-wide track and sprocket-with-roller system reportedly provide the machine with a smooth, quiet and efficient operation. The undercarriage suspension provides comfort for the operator and passenger while also providing load retention in the bed.
A high-traction power train reportedly provides efficient transport over slippery conditions, like mud or snow. It has a 5,000-lb towing capacity.
The Scout SC-50 features a travel speed of 11.5 mph, fuel capacity of 30 gallons and low-ground pressure. It is powered by a Perkins 404C-22 diesel engine that features four in-line cylinders, peak torque of 105 ft per lb and displacement of 134 in.
It features a smooth hydrostatic drive that is operated by a special Quick-Shift two-way pedal-one side for forward and the other side for reverse. No shifting is required. The body has two headlights and one rear light for work on the platform.

JT922 Horizontal Directional Drill
The JT922 horizontal directional drill offers power-to-size ratio in the 9,000-lb pullback category. It reportedly has a high carriage speed and great pipe capacity. The unit is said to be easy to set up and operate in tight spaces, such as backyards and alleys. Advanced features include heavy-duty anchor system, open-top vise wrenches and integrated remote display.
The unit holds up to 300 ft of pipe, and the carriage travels at 188 ft per minute.
The operator's station is midway down the drill frame and at a 90-degree angle to the rack. The seat slides fore and aft, so users can get closer to the pipe rack.
The unit's rack-and-pinion thrust drive has a double rack that is welded, rather than bolted, to prevent misalignment with the pinion. The double rack distributes the load equally, so there is less wear on the machine. The JT922 is designed without grease zerks, and all other routine maintenance points are on one side of the machine.

PAX Pile Driving Analyzer
The PAX pile driving analyzer is a portable and battery operated and weighs 10 lbs. The display doubles up as a control panel and keyboard and reportedly has high visibility.
The unit features remote data transmission capability via broadband Internet. Users can keep their engineers in the office. They need to send only the instrument to the job site and use the PDA-W software to monitor the load test via an office computer.
An office computer running PDA-W and receiving data gives the engineer the ability to perform comprehensive monitoring and analysis in real time. For those who opt to be present during pile driving, the local mode performs as a full capability pile driving analyzer coupled with the capabilities of a personal computer. PAX gives the field engineer access to all variables in real times and links to the latest version of the dynamic test data interpretation software, CAPWAP.
