USG Introduces Faster-Drying Poured Underlayment/Topping Product

USG’s specialty products division has added Quik-Top floor underlayment to its family of Level Rock poured gypsum-concrete underlayments. The new, self-leveling, high-strength (5,000 to 6,000 psi) product dries within 15 hours, allowing applicators to “pour today and cover tomorrow.”

Conventional poured concrete requires 20 days or more, while other gypsum-concrete underlayments need five to six days to dry.

Designed for use in commercial and multifamily renovations, as well as new construction, Level Rock Quik-Top underlayment is ideal for repairing damaged or uneven flooring or for topping rough or spalled concrete. The underlayment can be applied over cement or gypsum concrete subfloors one-quarter- to one-half-in. thick. It creates a smooth, level surface that accepts a variety of floor coverings, including carpeting, ceramic tile, wood laminate, hardwood and vinyl.

The underlayment can also function as a decorative finished floor when used with an approved Valspar coating system.

Fire-Lite’s New Conventional Panels Offer Addressable Features

Fire-Lite Alarms, part of Honeywell’s Life Safety Group, has developed a series of conventional fire alarm control panels with qualities typically inherent in addressable FACPs. The MS-5UD and MS-10UD 5- and 10- zone panels have programmable features that allow for easier installation.

This conventional series’ key benefit is an integral 80-character lighted LCD display with keypad for easy system programming. The FACPs’ four-conductor annunciator bus offers multiple options for remote operations such as the ANN-80 remote LCD, ANN-I/O LED module and ANN-S/PG serial printer gateway.

The Fire-Lite MS-5UD and MS-10UD are designed for small- to medium- size applications, making them ideal fit for retrofit applications. Unlike traditional conventional FACPs, these panels can be programmed to synchronize horn and strobe notification appliances from System Sensor, Cooper Wheelock, Gentex, Amseco and Faraday. Both new FACPs are compatible with most of today’s conventional initiating devices, including System Sensor’s I3 smoke detectors.
