Design & Construction ‘Old Timers’
Announce 2008 Industry Event
Two old friends from the Colorado construction industry serendipitously ran into each other at Lulu’s Bar in Maui last spring. After several margaritas and lots of reminiscing, they hatched the idea of an annual get-together for “old-timers” who missed their construction connections and friends.
Back in Denver, a few phone calls and several long lunches quickly yielded a start-up committee of 10 people, which planned a small party to test the idea. Nearly 80 industry veterans showed up for the evening of camaraderie.
The committee helped underwrite the event and additional proceeds went to support Assistive Technology Partners, which provided invaluable support in the planning of the event. ATP is a department within the University of Colorado School of Medicine that develops technologies and provides services to benefit people with all types of disabilities. Several members of the start-up committee have been supporters of ATP for some time, and everyone felt it would be appropriate for future events to benefit Assistive Technology Partners.
Buoyed by the successful start, there was unanimous support to hold a larger, annual get-together. A number of old hands quickly volunteered to serve on a steering committee. The annual event has now been coined, “DEJA VU RENDEZVOUS,” and the steering committee members include Marc Able, Bill Caile, Peggy Coleman, Jim Durant, Bill Field, Manuel Gonzales, Mike Harms, Dean Nelsen, Ron Norby, Tom Traxler, Bob Wade, Jim Weber, David White and Mike Zeller
This year’s event, with an anticipated attendance of 600 construction industry professionals, will be held on May 9, 2008, from 6 12 p.m. at Mile High Station. If you would like to purchase tickets, learn more about the event or are interested in having your company be a sponsor, please contact ATP at 303-315-1280.

Doosan Infracore Acquires
Bobcat Utility Equipment
Doosan Infracore announced in November it has completed the acquisition of the Bobcat, Utility Equipment and Attachments businesses from Ingersoll Rand Co. Ltd.
The three entities will operate as individual businesses of Doosan Infracore International, a U.S.-based subsidiary of Doosan Infracore, and will be known as Bobcat, Doosan Infracore Portable Power, and DII Attachments.
The $4.9-billion price tag was the largest overseas acquisition in Korea’s history. The transaction makes Doosan Infracore one of the top 10 global manufacturers of construction and utility equipment and related attachments in terms of pro forma sales, which will be approximately $7.5 billion. The company now has a combined network of more than 3,500 dealers worldwide and 20 manufacturing plants in the United States, Europe and China.
