CTL Wins Five-Year Contract/United Rentals
Opens Eagle Branch/DOTA Named Small Business of the Year
Larimer County awarded CTL/Thompson's
Fort Collins office a five-year contract to provide construction
observation and materials-testing services for the county
on various projects, including County Road 38 and County Road
5 intersection improvements and the 2006 resurfacing program.
CTL/Thompson Contracts with Larimer County
CTL/Thompson in Fort Collins won a five-year contract with
Larimer County; the firm will provide construction observation
and materials-testing services for the county on various projects.
Three specific projects are the County Road 38 and County
Road 5 intersection improvements, the 2006 resurfacing program
and the Lincoln and Link Lane intersection improvements.
The County Road 38 and County Road 5 intersection project
will include complete reconstruction of the intersection.
The firm will provide all required material testing for this
project, including all necessary lab testing to support the
field work.
The 2006 resurfacing program project will include patching,
leveling and overlay of approximately 12 miles of County Road.
Larimer County will conduct the field testing while CTL/T
will receive samples of asphalt from county field representatives
to perform lab testing
DOTA Named 2006 Small Business of the Year
The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce honored David Owen Tryba
Architects with its Small Business Award.
The firm was selected from hundreds of applicants for its
contributions to the Denver metro community, including the
design of significant urban infill projects such as the Wellington
E. Webb Municipal Office Building (with RNL Design), Clayton
Lane, Englewood City Center, Lowry Town Center, and 16 Market
Square.
David Owen Tryba Architects is currently the master urban
design architect for the new Denver Justice Center.
Palace Constructs Home for Builders Blitz
2006
Palace Construction participated last month in Habitat for
Humanity's Home Builders Blitz 2006 - the only Denver-area
commercial general contractor to take part in the national
project.
Palace built one of 15 houses at Tollgate Crossing in Aurora;
the other 14 were constructed by home builders. The houses
were 500 houses that were constructed throughout the country
during Builders Blitz.
United Rentals Opens New Location in Eagle
United Rentals, which offers customers access to more than
600 types of equipment and 9,200 contractor supplies, opened
a branch in Eagle last month at 751 Chambers Ave.
The Eagle branch carries a broad range of equipment for commercial
and industrial construction, renovation and maintenance, including
the latest technologies in aerial work platforms.
Communications Supply Acquires Liberty
Wire & Cable
Communications Supply Corp. has acquired Liberty Wire &
Cable Inc. in Colorado Springs, a leading provider of connectivity
and infrastructure products to the residential and commercial
professional audio video markets.
The transaction brings the number of CSC full-service branch
locations across the United States to 32. Liberty distribution
centers in Colorado and North Carolina will continue to service
Liberty customers globally.
Golden Rotary Honors Andrews & Anderson
The Rotary Club of Golden presented Andrews & Anderson
Architects PC this spring with the club's first-ever Ethics
in Business Award.
The firm was chosen from a list of 10 finalists that included
the Coors Brewing Co.
The award was created to recognize businesses that exhibit
high ethical standards with courage, integrity and conviction.
Criteria included treatment of customers, social responsibility
and community involvement.
Arber Celebrates 25 Years with Water for
People Donation
Rick Arber started Arber Associates 25 years ago to help
communities develop their water, wastewater and reuse systems.
Since then, the firm has expanded and completed hundreds of
projects throughout the Rocky Mountain region and the western
United States.
To celebrate its anniversary, Arber Associates recently donated
to Water for People, an international, nonprofit humanitarian
organization committed to increasing access to safe drinking
water and improving sanitation.
Heath Construction to Build $4.6M Lafayette
Police Facility
The city of Lafayette selected Heath Construction of Fort
Collins to build the community's new $4.6 million, 24,000-sq-ft
police facility.
The new facility will provide the city with a municipal court,
additional holding cells and upgraded offices for police officers
and administrative personnel. The new police headquarters
will feature state-of-the-art internal and external security
measures.
The project team responsible for landing the contract through
the competitive bid process included Heath's chief estimator,
Chris Claflin; architect Ed Bledowski of the DLR Group; and
Kevin Gibbs, owner representative.
Magazine Names Marshall-Rodeno 'Rep of the
Year' for 2006
Marshall-Rodeno Associated is in the spotlight now as Supply
House Times' 2006 Rep of the Year; the Denver-based company
is featured in a six-page spread in the magazine's June issue.
Marshall-Rodeno, which has served the Rocky Mountain region
for more than 50 years, specializes in products for plumbing,
commercial mechanical, industrial, power, mining and oil and
gas industries, with a customer base that consists of wholesale
distributors, engineers, architects and home builders.
The magazine lauded the company for fostering a culture that
supports and responds to its clients and employees.
eBlueprint Expands Operations with New Denver
Location
eBlueprint has opened a new location at 1408 Wazee St., Denver.
The opening of the new facility comes as the company unveils
significant technology enhancements, providing expanded service
to customers in the real estate, design and building industry.
Nearly half of the documents produced by eBlueprint are received
in digital format through the company's Web site, www.eBlueprint.com.
Today, the company's online database offers customers and
their team members' 24-hour access to files. Registered users
can download or print files through the projects section of
the Web site.
JR Engineering Handling 104th Avenue Improvements
Commerce City awarded JR Engineering the contract to manage
and design the 104th Avenue corridor improvements.
The project consists of eight miles of corridor improvements,
including a six-lane arterial road, traffic signal design,
intersection design, an at-grade railroad crossing coordination,
drainage and utilities coordination and landscape theming.
The construction cost for the first phase of the project
is $46 million.
Cleanup, Redevelopment Planned at Former
Plant
Hamilton Sundstrand signed an agreement this spring that
will expedite environmental cleanup of its former manufacturing
facility and adjacent land located on West 70th Avenue in
unincorporated Adams County.
The move paves the way for redevelopment of the property.
The agreement involving Hamilton Sundstrand, Arcadis, Carma
Colorado Inc. and BPI Westminster LLC was finalized last Monday.
It outlines a framework for addressing the remaining environmental
issues and creating beneficial reuse of the land.
