The 2007 Colorado Construction Gold Hard Awards
Outstanding Glass/Glazing Project
Gold Hard Hat Award
Museum Residences
Submitted by Milender-White Construction Co.
The Museum Residences are gallery-inspired condominiums overlooking the recently expanded Denver Art Museum. Designed by world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, the 55 luxury condominiums wrap around two sides of the museum's large, odd-shaped parking garage.
This contemporary condominium complex is cutting edge, with its composition of slanted walls, protruding edges, steel frame—and lots of windows.
Milender-White Project Manager Shane Fobes describes the main challenge in building this project with a single word: "geometry." There are virtually no right angles.
The Museum Residences stand seven stories high with retail space occupying the first floor, and terraced penthouses occupying the top two levels. Units range from 750 sq ft to 4,500 sq ft with unique floor plans.
Milender-White worked hand in hand with the owner and sales representatives to provide homeowners with a variety of exciting upgrade options. Standard features included Berloni cabinetry from Italy, stainless steel and Corion countertops, Bosch appliances, Hakati tile, and, of course, asymmetrical walls.
This project had an aggressive construction schedule of approximately 17 months—just enough time for Milender-White to turn Daniel Libeskind's innovative vision into reality.
