Built Green Colorado Honors Home Builders in Denver and Pueblo

Built Green Colorado awarded its Built Green Award of Excellence to Burton Customs for the home builder's model entry, The Retreat, featured in the 2005 Parade of Homes at Pradera, under way in Douglas County through Sept. 5.

Scoring a comprehensive 291 points - more than four times the requirement to meet the Built Green standard - the house set the bar for building green at this year's Parade of Homes. Highlights include a well-sealed HVAC system, a roof guaranteed for a minimum of 40 years, a whole-house HEPA filter, central vacuum, water-wise underground irrigation system and a heat recovery ventilator to supply fresh outdoor air to the occupants.

Burton Customs recycled more than 50 percent of its jobsite construction waste on the project.

Black Forest Homes' Villa Della Viste was this year's recipient of the Built Green Energy Excellence Award.

Built Green Colorado also honored Pueblo-based Y Construction Inc. with its Pueblo Parade of Homes Built Green Award of Excellence for its Parade home built at 169 Blue Hills Dr. in Pueblo West.

Y Construction's score of 270 points from the checklist was more than three times that required by the program.

Three other Pueblo builders received honorable mentions - Craftsman Homes, Spera Homes and Oakwood Construction - for demonstrating dramatic commitment to the Built Green program. Their homes are expected to provide significant energy and water savings and will require lower maintenance costs.
